On June 1, 2011, Song Zhiping, chairman of China National Building Materials Group Corporation (CNBM), warmly received a delegation headed by Lazard Asian President & former Saint-Gobain Chairman Jeans-Louis Beffa.
Beffa thanked Song for his warm reception, and introduced Lazard’s business and professional global advantages. Beffa is now in charge of Lazard’s Asia operation, proposes to make strategic adjustment for more operations in Asia, and hopes to offer investment help to CNBM in the process of internationalization. Besides, he is member of the board of directors and honorary president of Saint-Gobain. In view of the good relations between the two sides, Beffa hoped to share development experience with CNBM. He said under Song’s leadership, CNBM had grown rapidly into one of the world’s most vigorous and promising companies, adding Saint-Gobain values the development opportunity in China very much.
Song extended warm welcome to Beffa’s visit. He introduced the fast growth of CNBM and Sinopharm in recent years, saying, “Now central enterprises stress ‘going out’, conduct global resource allocation and participate in market competition, CNBM’s operation development at home benefits from capital operation and reorganization, which values ‘going out’ as one of its major tasks.”
In the talks, both sides expressed the wish to carry out exchanges and cooperation in such aspects as cement, glass, glass fiber, solar cell, high technology and overseas pharmaceutical logistics at the new historical starting point.
